The Website of Kevin Wade Shaw

Once, while in conversation with my friend Liz, I commented on the unprofessional nature of updating currently functional websites. It seems, in this process, that when updating a website, the common practice is to remove the "old" one and replace it with a message such as this (or simply "New Site Coming Soon!") as an interim phase before "launching" a new one. But why, pray tell, would one not simply let the former site sit its ground until a new one appears in it's place? What is the purpose of this temporary (or should I say "explicitly temporary", as we all know the internet to be an ephemeral playground) and haplessly static facade? Perhaps it is to construct anticipation from an audience while one constructs a new site? Or maybe it is an effort to reserve bandwidth?

In this case though, I've certainly outgrown some of the work initially presented here and am actively contriving a system which better catalogs and "expresses" this work. To be more direct, however, please revisit this site on 07-01-08 for something completely new.

Thank you.
